Peter Maurin Center opens as an emergency shelter whenever winter temperatures drop below 15°F, offering a safe and warm refuge for our community’s most vulnerable. The shelter can accommodate up to 80 individuals and remains open as long as dangerous conditions persist.

Our Emergency Response
- Immediate Setup: Volunteers prepare shelter space as temperatures drop
- Hot Dinner: Evening meal provided upon arrival
- Overnight Safety: Warm, secure environment with supervision
- Morning Breakfast: Hot meal before guests return to daytime activities
- Seasonal Clothing: Weather-appropriate garments and accessories
- Bus Passes: Transportation assistance for the day ahead
Volunteer Teams
- Evening Team: Helps set up shelter space and serves hot dinner
- Morning Team: Serves breakfast and assists guests preparing for the day
- Overnight Support: Ensures safety and comfort throughout the night
Our emergency shelter operates with the same dignity and respect that characterizes all our services, ensuring every person feels welcomed and valued during their time of greatest need.
